Fort Dupont is a beautiful neighborhood in Southeast DC that features tree-lined streets, green spaces, and a sense of community.
The second largest park in the District and recreational centerpiece of the neighborhood is Fort Dupont Park, featured in this “Neighborhoods” ticket scene. Formerly the location of a Civil War era fortification constructed for the defense of the city, today this 400 acre park provides visitors with a place to picnic, jog, ice skate, bike ride, go on nature walks, or join a ranger-led Civil War educational program.
Fort Dupont Park is also home to one of the city’s best kept secrets, the Summer Concert Series. A tradition for over forty years the free summer concerts consistently draw crowds in the thousands.
