H Street today is a bustling, pedestrian-friendly corridor known for its vibrant nightlife. The recent revitalization of what was once one of the city’s most important transportation and commercial districts has brought with it an exciting collection of theaters, restaurants, and shopping.

Our H Street “Neighborhoods” ticket pays homage to a time gone-by when the iconic H Street streetcars transported passengers along the two mile route. The first streetcars made their appearance in 1872 and carried millions of passengers before they were replaced by buses in 1949.

In February of 2016, the streetcar returned to H Street, once again carrying passengers up and down the corridor and connecting the community to other modes of public transportation.
